Rachel Murphy MNCHM, RSHom

Rachel MurphyI studied homeopathy at the Northern College of Homeopathic Medicine in Gateshead and completed my academic and clinical training in April 2005. Since then I have set up my practice from my home in central Edinburgh, where I have a separate space to work from. I am a registered member of The Society of Homeopaths, have professional insurance and work in accordance with their Code of Ethics which requires that the safety and welfare of patients is my top priority. Very recently I have taught an 'Introduction to Homeopathy', 7 week evening class at Stevenson College and I am involved with a committed programme of Continuing Professional Development.

Since I began practising I have seen a wide variety of patients all presenting different complaints. I am a mother of three children, so I draw widely from my own experiences and see pregnant women who are seeking help with ailments or wishing to develop child birth plans. Sometimes their new babies need help adjusting to the new world they find themselves in. Later on, homeopathy can support children with most childhood ailments and perhaps help them overcome anxiety when they begin school. This is the time when their immune systems might also need a boost. Adolescence can be another difficult stage for parents and their children; homeopathy can support teenagers through this often awkward stage in their lives.

Women seek help for their menstrual complaints and if they experience uncomfortable symptoms at their time of change during the menopause. Homeopathy can be wonderfully helpful for these times of hormonal imbalance.

I have worked with those caring for the terminally ill and seen them through their grief - again, I have seen and been a part of the lovely support that homeopathy can give.

Rachel MurphyIn my spare time I love to tend our garden, walk our dog - preferably on a beach, listen to music and read. I began my professional life as a nurse but hospital life did not suit me so I left and studied Anthropology and History of Art (BA). I worked with the arts for many years and finally stopped full-time work when I became a mother. Homeopathy is my new career.

I will happily give talks to NCT or Mother & Toddler groups and any other organisation that might be interested to hear about homeopathy. I will also arrange introductory classes (minimum 6 people) on Homeopathy for First Aid, Homeopathy for Families and Childhood Ailments and Homeopathy for Pregnancy and Childbirth.
